Susan Etheridge
Longtime children’s
rights advocate Susan Etheridge has a career spanning more more than 40 years as a teacher,
Child Protective Services (CPS) caseworker, supervisor, program
director and program administrator.
“I have
dedicated my professional life to protecting children
and believe
there is no higher calling than to be able to go
home at the end of
the day and know that a child is safe
and protected because of the
work you do.”
She has been honored
with the State Team Excellence Award, Professional Division, honored
by Dallas County Commissioners for her work with CPS and has been
named Social Worker of the Year.
She maintains
memberships in the National Association of Social Workers, Collin
County Family Violence Council, Beyond ABC, Plano Metro Rotary Club
and Tex Protects and serves on the 2008 United Way Campaign. She is
also participating in the current Leadership Plano class.
With an undergraduate
degree in education from the University of North Texas, she received a
master’s degree in Social Work from University of Texas at Arlington
and has served as executive director for nonprofits specifically
dealing with abused and neglected children in Collin County for the
past 4 years.
Mrs.
Etheridge has been married 38 years and is the mother of 5 and
grandmother of 5.
